So I recently completed a 6-week trip along the south coast of Europe through Spain, France and Italy (and, quite unrelated to the south coast, Budapest).
In my next posts I will mainly be rambling about destinations from this trip.
Before I start, I'd just like to point out that this trip
was easily one of the best things I've one so far. I really didn't plan
and organize much - all I started with was a ticket to Palma de
Mallorca, and a list of cities I wanted to visit. And the idea of
couchsurfing all the way, seeing how far I'd go.
This is the exact route, by the way:

In the end it worked out just fine, all in all I had to spend only 6 nights in hostels. Four of them in Barcelona, and I didn't really
need to - I had already couchsurfed there for 3 days, and had a host
waiting for me in my next town - but I loved Barcelona so much, I just
couldn't leave that fast. (In fact, I loved it so much, I'm moving there
in a couple of weeks. But that's another story.) And the other two nights were in Budapest - again, I didn't need to, I could've found a host just as easily, but I was getting tired and decided to give myself a break.
So
yes, it is possible to couchsurf for six weeks straight, in peak
season, in some of Europe's most touristic destinations, with no prior
organization.
Costs as well can be kept at a bare minimum. Especially if you ditch public transport and go hitchhiking.(Which I chose not to do, since I was alone.)
Anyways! More details about to follow, as I post about each location.
Hope you find this useful, interesting, and - most of all - inspiring.
